MMIL to adopt village in AP to assist people:Chairman

Visakhapatnam, Jan 12: Maa Mahamaya Industries Limited (MMIL), the first Mini Integrated Steel Plant, situated in this district of Andhra Pradesh, had decided to adopt the RG Peta Village to fulfill the basic needs of the people.

Talking to newspersons here today, MMIL Chairman and Managing Director Ashok Kumar Agarwal said the company with a turnover of Rs 310 crore had provided indirect employment in plantation, among others, to the women in the village.

Mr Agarwal said the company initiated steps to control the pollution menace. "As a corporate citizen, it is my duty to extend the company's assistance to the welfare of the village", he added.

The CMD said the company with an installed capacity of 1,20,000 MT of TMT bars and rods has 20 MW captive power plant for co-power generation from waste gases and provided employment for more than 500 people of the nearby villages, directly and indirectly. The steel produced here was being exported to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for domestic utility, besides Andhra Pradesh, he added.
