'Kadha Parayumbol' wins Asianet film award
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 12 (UNI) 'Kadha Parayumbol,' a story of friendship between a village barber and a reigning super star of Malayalam cinema, has been selected as the best film for the 2008 Ujala-Asianet Film Awards.
The film was produced by popular actors Mukesh and Sreenivasan and directed by debutant M Mohanan.
Announcing the awards here today, Asianet Communications Ltd MD K Madhavan said Mammootty was selected as the best actor and Meera Jasmine the best actress for their performances in various films during the of year 2007. Mohanlal was the best popular actor.
Lal Jose won the award for best Director for his contribution in the film 'Arabi Kadha.' He said the awards, decided on the basis of nominations received from tens of thousands of viewers of Asianet channel, would be distributed to winners at a function to be organised here on January 20.
Ganapathy was selected as best child artiste.
Veteran actress Sheela would be honoured with Life Time Achievement Award at that function.
Best male singer was Madhu Balakrishnan and female singer was K S Chitra.
While Jagathy Sreekumar was announced as the best character actor, KPAC Lalitha was selected as the character actress.
