JD(S) leader threatens to take legal course against Cong leader

Bangalore, Jan 12 (UNI) State Janata Dal (S) President Merajuddin Patel today threatened that he would move the court against Congress member in the Karnataka Legislative Council Basavaraj Patil Humnabad for reportedly levelling ''false'' charges against him on alleged misuse of government schemes in Bidar district.

Addressing newspersons here, Mr Patel, denying the charges that he had implemented the state sponsored watershed programmes in his private lands, had ''threatened'' to take the matter to the court if he (Mr Patil) failed to retract the statement.

Stating that he had allowed the Minor Irrigation Department to construct a model check-dam for demonstration to villagers in Humnabad taluk in Bidar district after lending one acre of farm land belonging to his family, Mr Patel informed that the scheme itself had such a provision.

''If Mr Patil failed to withdraw his charges against me, I will take legal steps and file criminal defamation cases against him,'' the JD(S) leader warned.
