IUML accuses Govt of "delaying" Sachar report implementation
Kozhikode, Jan 12 (UNI) The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) today accused the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government in Kerala for ''intentionally delaying'' the implemetation of Sachar Commission Report on minorities in the State.
Talking to newspersons here, after a working committee meeting of the IUML, party General Secretary P K Kunhalikutty said formation of a sub-committee by the Government on the pretext of conducting a detailed study on the report was aimed at further delaying its implementation.
Mr Kutty alleged that the sub-committee, headed by State Local Self Governance minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty, was a mere wastage, as the Commission had already recommended appropriate action plans to improve conditions of minorities in the country.
In a resolution adopted at the meeting, the party urged the Centre to implement Justice Rangnatha Mishra Commission Report on 'Religious and Linguistic Minorities' soon, he said.
Despite the submission of the report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in May 2007, it was neither officially released, nor presented to Parliament so far, he alleged.
It was reported that the Commission had recommended many action plans for uplift of religious and linquistic minorities in the country, he said.
