implementation of delimitation of assembly constituencies urged

Mysore, Jan 12(UNI) Former Minister and senior leader JD(S) dissident leader Dr H C Mahadevappa today urged the union government to implement the delimitation of assembly constituencies in the state before the coming assembly elections in Karnataka.

Speaking to newsmen here today Dr Mahadevappa informed that the Kuldip Singh Commisison on the delimitation had given its report on Karantaka and center should implement it and give effect to coming assembly elections.

Mr Mahadevappa also informed that it was the responsibility of the union government to ensure adequate representation of the representatives from SC and ST communities both in state assemblies and Lok Sabha. "If delimitation of assemblies done before the assembly elections the representation of SC's in Karnataka assembly would increase to 36 per cent from 33 while that of ST to 15 per cent from the meager 2 per cent" he said.

Replying to question Dr Mahadevappa has ruled out the possibility of joining him into BSP. "The situation in Karnataka was different from that of Uttar Pradesh" he said.
