Bandh against worsening situation in Nagda

Ujjain, Jan 12: Residents of the industrial town of Nagda in Ujjain district observed a general strike (bandh) today to protest the deteriorating law and order situation.

During the bandh, police used mild force to disperse a group of Congress workers, who were roaming in the town, about 80 km from here.

Congress MLA Dilip Gurjar alleged that police lathicharged the workers, causing injuries to few. He said a spontaneous bandh was being observed by the people and demanded an inquiry into the incident and action against guilty officers. Additional Superintendent of Police M S Sikarwar denied lathicharge but said police had not allowed anyone to take law in their hand.
