PM non-committal on Bharat Ratna to Vajpayeey
New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said it was ''too early'' to decide on conferring Bharat Ratna on veteran BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
''It is too early. There is still time to discuss these issues,'' he said at press conference here.
Dr Singh was addressing the press conference jointly with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kostas Karamanlis, who is on a four-day visit to the country, after talks here today.
Leader of the Opposition L K Advani had in a letter to the Prime Minister proposed that Mr Vajpayee be conferred the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award, in view of his long-standing Parliamentary record and services to the country.
