First batch of Haj pilgrims returns

Chennai, Jan 11 (UNI) The first batch of 444 Haj pilgrims, including 271 women, returned here today by a special Saudi Airlines aircraft after their successful pilgrimage to Mecca.

They were received at the airport by Tamil Nadu Environment Minister T P M Mohideen Khan, Haj Committee Chairman and MP J M Haroon and officials.

They arrived here at 0620 hrs this morning.

A total of 3,876 people left for the Haj pilgrimage to Mecca in nine flights from November 30 to December 10.
