Ferrous metals recover

Mumbai, Jan 11 (UNI) Prices of ferrous metals recovered today on good demand from retailers in domestic centres like Delhi and Kolkata, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.

In the ferrous metal categories, Copper heavy, Copper utensils and Brass utensils shot up by Rs 100 per quintal each owing to reduced stock supply. Brass cuttings and Aluminium utensils also advanced by Rs 150 and Rs 200 per quintal respectively due to improved demand.

In the non-ferrous metal categories, Copper wire bars rose by Rs 100 per quintal on increase in demand while zinc slab declined by Rs 100 per quintal because of poor buying support.

Meanwhile, Aluminium ingot and Lead ingot remained flaton moderate demand.

Tin slab and Nickel cathode eased by Re 5 and Rs 15 per kg respectively owing to thin buying support.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 33,900, copper utensils - Rs 31,800, brass utensils - Rs 24,900, brass cuttings - Rs 25,650 and aluminium utensils - Rs 10,500 per kg.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 37,100, Aluminium ingots - Rs 12,000, Zinc slab - Rs 12,700, Lead ingots Rs 12,000, Tin slab - Rs 790 and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,410 per kg.
