Ex-Indian envoy highlights implications of NICOM's theme

Ahmedabad, Jan 11 (UNI) Former Indian ambassador to European Union Dr N P Jain today highlighted the profound implications of the theme of '2008 Nirma International Conference on Management (NICOM)' in the post-World Trade Organisation (WTO) phase.

In his valedictory address at the three-day conference on management, which concluded here today, Mr Jain said the brainstorming led to creation of new thoughts during NICOM-2008, which could pave the way for technology to lead businesses in the digital age.

He also appreciated the environment-friendly and intellectually invigorating Nirma University Campus and spoke of how people have worked together in a team to ensure the success of the conclave.

The third day of the conference started off with a panel discussion on ''Innovations in Entertainment Marketing''.

Prof Atul Tandan, Director of MICA, Ahmedabad said the insights about the concept of convergence which means knowing a little bit of everything and not claiming to be an expert in anything. He was very optimistic about the future of Indian film industry and said that ''Today, we are sitting on a gold mine''.

He said power equation was shifting from provider of entertainment to user of entertainment. He concluded his address by saying that marketing was creating and retaining a customer in a profitable way by exchange between customers and providers and governed by the ability of the business to manage that exchange.
