According to Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee leaders, so far 200 applications had been received for the 60 Assembly seats. AICC representative Sanjoy Bapner would come later today to scrutinise the credentials of the applicants.
''All senior leaders of the party, including dissidents, attended the meeting last evening where we discussed election related matters and organisational issues ahead of the polls,'' said TPCC spokesperson Ratan Chakraborty.
Mr Chakraborty, however, said the AICC had constituted a separate committee for conducting elections in the state and the TPCC was satisfied with the committee's performance.
Meanwhile, the CPI(ML) today announced their list of candidates in 15 constituencies.
In another development CPI(M) supporters held a rally against TPCC president and former chief minister Samir Ranjan Barman for his alleged involvement in a land scam and burnt his effigy. Mr Barman was allegedly trying to capture a huge plot of land in the city where migrants from Bihar were settled since 1968.
