BJP to organise Rath Yatra from tomorrow
Kolkata, Jan 11 (UNI) The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha will organise a 12-day Rath Yatra from tomorrow to protest the ruling Left Front government's ''anti-farmers' policy, communal disharmony and unemployment problem'' throughout the state.
Talking to newspersons here, BJP state secretary Rahul Sinha alleged that the Left Front government's agriculture policy was depriving the farmers of their only means of livelihood as the rural population was entirely dependant on land.
He also alleged that the West Bengal government had failed to solve the unemployment problems and tackle the disharmony created by the communal forces in the state.
He said one of the rathas will start its journey from the Diamond Harbour on January 12 and reach Siliguri on January 23 while another ratha will initiate its journey from Mahishadal to reach Ilambazar on January 20.
The first ratha will be inaugurated by party president Sukumar Banerjee and the latter by the party's senior leader Tathagata Roy.
He said as many as 62 meetings and road shows would be held during the ratha yatra and urged the youth of the state to participate in the yatra.
''The ratha yatra will surely boost our energy to fight the ruling government in West Bengal ahead of the coming Panchayat elections,'' Mr Sinha said.
