BJP justifies Advani's request for Bharat Ratna to Vajpayee

Hyderabad, Jan 11 (UNI) Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president M Venkaiah Naidu today said there was nothing wrong in a letter written Leader of the Opposition L K Advani to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, requesting him to confer Bharat Ratna on former prime minister A B Vajpayee.

Talking to newspersons here, he said Mr Advani did the right thing by asking Dr Singh to honour Mr Vajpayee, an outstanding parliamentarian and a prominent leader of the nation.

Asked about Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi's remarks that the cabinet would take a decision on the matter, Mr Naidu said though there was a Committee to look into the matter, the letter was addressed to the Prime Minister in right spirit.
