Bhatia logs in Gujarat to download Nano city
Ahmedabad, Jan 11: Hotmail fame Sabeer Bhatia and Larson and Toubro (L&T) have jointly expressed keen interest in setting up a ''Nano city'' in Gujarat to develop world class technological infrastrcture on the lines of Silicon Valley of USA.
A presentation was made to Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who has shown a keen interest in the project and the State government has set up a working group to deliberate on the project. Mr Modi, who is keen to make Gujarat a key destination for the foreign companies and project a growth rate of more than 10 per cent in next five years, wanted a high growth in IT sector in coming years.
Mr Modi said that develomental work in Gujarat have been undetaken at international level and state government has taken up the project of ''Gujarat International Finance Tech city'' near Gandhinagar. The state goverment has a positive approach towards the ''Nano city'' project that covers ecology, technology and global development of economy.
Mr Bhatia who established the web-based e-mail corporation Hotmail, hopes to transform farmland into ''Nano City'', a modern and sustainable urban center with first-world infrastructure. Once built, the city would provide water, power, transport system and internet connectivity to 500,000 people.
