49 persons, including NRI family, injured in road accident

Ahmedabad, Jan 10 (UNI) Forty-nine people, including an NRI family, were injured when a luxury bus rammed into a metador early this morning at Chordi village near Gondal, approximately 315 kms away from here.

According to Gondal police, the NRI family from London was going to the famous pilgrimage centre Virpur of Saint Jalaram Bapa, near Rajkot.

Exact cause of the accident and details about the victims are yet to be ascertained but prima facie, it is believed that either because of poor visibility or early morning drowsiness, the driver of the luxury bus could have lost control and rammed into the metador.

The accident was so severe that the cleaner of the bus had to be rescued by cutting a portion of the bus.

The NRI victims are believed to belong to a Patel family from London who orginally hail from Anand in Kheda district.

The injured passengers were given treatment at a Rajkot hospital.

Condition of the cleaner of the bus is reported to be serious.
