Lensman wins 'Photographer of the year 2007' award

Madurai, Jan 9 (UNI) City-based photographer R Senthil Kumaran has won the prestigious 'Photographer of the year 2007' award instituted by the Royal Geographical Society, London.

Mr Kumaran received the award for his panoramic view of sarees drying on the banks of the River Ganges in the 'Travel Category.' The award winning photograph was one among the 1,000 entries from all over the world.

His photo was also chosen as the best among all five categories, including nature, culture, wildlife, travel and landscape. It would be displayed in the photo exhibition of winning entries at the Royal Geographical Society, London beginning on March 3, 2008, Madurai District Photographers'Association, said in a release today.
