BJP denounces Mayawati for biased attitude towards opposition
Lucknow, Jan 9 (UNI) The BJP today unleashed vitriol against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for being biased towards leaders of opposition parties.
BJP vice-president Hridaya Narayan Dixit here today said Ms Mayawati was worried about her security and had asked for SPG cover from the Central Government, but was not ready to provide security to the leaders of the opposition.
He further asserted that the government had overlooked the security demands of the BJP state unit president and also withdrew the high-security cover given to senior party leader and former UP Minister Lalji Tondon.
Under the law of the state, appropriate security arrangements should be given to former MLAs, but the government is busy feeding its own interests and focussed only on its partymen, he charged.
Mr Dixit demanded the Central Government to reinspect the clause that entitles security cover to former ministers as the opposition party leaders should not suffer any loss in the hands of the ruling party, he said.
If the UP chief minister is facing any life threat, the Centre should take the matter seriously, Mr Dixit maintained.
