Pay dues to farmers at earliest, HC to sugarmills
Lucknow, Jan 8 (UNI) Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today directed all district magistrates to abide by its November 15 order, whereby, sugarmills were asked to pay sugar price at the rate of 110 per quintal to farmers.
The Bench also directed the sugarcane commissioner to present the progress report on Jan 11.
The order was passed by a bench, comprising Justices Pradeep Kant and S N Shukla on a petition filed by private sugarmill owners.
Earlier in the day, Additional Advocate General Jaideep Narayan Mathur presented a report before the HC, mentioning the names of erring sugarmills, who were neither paying dues to farmers nor intending to do it in future.
