Left Front constituents welcome Mamata's Front

Kolkata, Jan 8 (UNI) Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today asserted that the Left Front constituents barring the CPI(M) were welcome to her newly-launched Progressive, Secular, Democratic Front (PSDF).

Talking to newsmen here, Ms Banerjee said, '' The Left Front constituents are welcome to my 17-party conglomerate, if they want to join us. '' Coming down heavily on the CPI(M) for ''violating'' all Constitutional norms pertaining to the coming Panchayat election, she said the PSDF would meet Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi soon to highlight the CPI(M) ''misdeeds''.

She also said the PSDF would hold mass convention in all the districts of the state from next month onwards to ''save democracy from the onslaught of the CPI(M)''.

Terming the CPI(M) action as ''unconstitutional'', Ms Banerjee stated that the PSDF would emerge as the real alternative to the Left in the state in the immediate future.

The PSDF charted out a common minimum programme in today's meeting, which was the first one since the formation of the front.
