Govt allots 2.42 lakh tonne rice to BPL cardholders

Hyderabad, Jan 8 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government today allotted 2.42 lakh tonne of rice for distribution to BPL cardholders in the state.

An official release here said about four Kg per family member subject to a maximum of 20 kg would be distributed to each BPL family at Rs 5.25 per kg.

The government also allocated 54,524 tonne of rice to AAY cardholders at 35 Kg per AAY family, irrespective of the number of family members, at Rs three per kg.

Besides, allotting 100 tonne of rice to the identified 4,000 infirm or crippled weavers in the state at 25 kg per family free of cost, the government had allotted 932 tonne of Annapurna rice to the beneficiaries at 10 kg per month free of cost.

Apart from distributing about 17,715 tonne of sugar to the BPL and AAY cardholders at one Kg per card on the surrender of coupons, issued for the purpose, the government would distribute about 2754 tonnes of wheat to BPL/AAY and APL cardholders of urban areas at 10 kg per card at Rs seven per kg through the Fair Price Shops.

The government would also distribute 55,380 Kls of PDS kerosine to the eligible BPL cardholders, the release added.
