Flourishing woolens business in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, Jan 8, 2008 : With the mercury dipping, Ludhiana popularly known as the 'Manchester of India' witnesses a brisk sale of woolen shawls and stoles. Around 500 major and minor shawl manufactures of Ludhiana have been capitalizing on this early and intense cold spell.

Fancy Ludhiana stoles and shawls are finding buyers both in India and abroad, eventually benefiting the industry. At present, the trade is worth Rs 10,000 crores and exports mop up another Rs 400 crores per annum.
