Commercial tax inspector booked for taking bribe

Bangalore, Jan 8 (UNI) Commercial Tax inspector of Chikmagalur, a motor vehicle inspector of Bellur and a GESCOM linesman of Raichur were caught redhanded by Lokayukta sleuths while accepting a bribe for showing official favours.

According to a release from Lokayukta, commercial tax inspector Habeebulla Baig had demanded Rs 15,000 as a bribe for not inspecting A V Suresh's plastic shop and not to impose a fine on him. The official was caught redhanded by the Chikmagalur Lokayukta police while accepting the bribe.

In another trap, a motor vehicle inspector of Bellur, who had demanded Rs 5,000 from one Ramesh to value two vehicles at a lower value. Later he agreed to receive Rs 4,500. The Mandya Lokayukta police arrested for accepting a bribe.

In another trap, Devanna, a linesman of GESCOM at Raichur was booked for taking a bribe of Rs 3000 from Rangappa for erecting a electric poll and to give electricity connection to a pump house, the Lokayukta press release said.
