BEST Undertaking's budget for 2008-09 is surplus by Rs 0.11 cr

Mumbai, Jan 8 (UNI) The budget for the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking for 2008-09 has a surplus of Rs 0.11 crore, as against the deficit budget of Rs 109.19 crore, that was presented to the BEST Committee by the General Manager.

The estimates of the revenue expenditure of Rs 3,548.34 crore, prepared by the General Manager for 2008-09, was reduced by the BEST committee to Rs 3,510.04 crore and the revenue income of Rs 3,439.15 crore was increased to Rs 3,510.04 crore and showed an overall surplus of Rs 0.11 crore in the budget estimate for 2008-09, said Ravindra Waikar, the Standing Committee chairman of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), while delivering a speech on the budget estimate of the undertaking for 2008-09, to the House today.

The Committee has submitted its remarks and recommendations with the budget estimates to the House, he informed.
