Traders body presents memo to guv over VAT
Lucknow, Jan 7 (UNI) All India Samajwadi Vyapar Mandal, affiliated to principal opposition Samajwadi Party, today called upon Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar and gave him a memorandum demanding all foodgrains be exempted from VAT.
The delegation was led by Mandal leaders Radhey Shyam Gupta and Prem Prakash Verma.
''VAT is a unified policy, under which the tax rates should be uniform in all the states...however, UP is not honest in implementing the tax,'' they said.
The Mandal has warned that if their demands were not met, the foodgrains market could be closed indefinitely.
The Mandal is not averse to approaching the high court on the issue.
