Toll rises to two in stage collapse incident
Chennai, Jan 7 (UNI) The toll in the stage collapse at the Savera Hotel in the city during New Year revelry rose to two, with the death of an IT student here today.
M Anand (21), a third year IT student, who was admitted to Apollo Hospitals along with two others, succumbed to injuries, police and hospital sources told UNI.
He succumbed around 1500 hrs, the sources added.
The death comes barely a couple of hours after Savera Group of Hotels Chairman P V Reddy was arrested in connection with the incident. He was later released on bail.
It may be recalled that more than 250 people were dancing and partying on the make-shift stage when it collapsed into the swimming pool beneath, killing Sumit Agnihotri, a software professional, minutes before the dawn of 2008.
