President condoles death of Jaipur Foot inventor
New Delhi, Jan 7 (UNI) President Pratibha Patil today condoled the death of Dr Pramod Karan Sethi, the inventor of 'Jaipur Foot,' who died in Jaipur on Saturday night.
In her condolence message the President described Dr Sethi as a renowned orthopaedic surgeon whose invention had brought smiles to lakhs of amputees around the world.
His invention helped amputees to continue their lives without the feeling of inadequacy for whch he shall always be remembered, the President said.
Dr Sethi died in Jaipur on Saturday night following a brief illness. He was 80.
Dr Sethi, who was given the Magsaysay award for his pathbreaking work for the handicapped with the introduction of the famous 'Jaipur Foot', is survived by his wife, son and three daughters.
