NE Investment Summit to begin from Jan 11
Agartala, Jan 7 (UNI) The leading business tycoons and senior officials from across the world will participate in a two-day North East India Investment Summit starting from January 11 in Guwahati, Assam.
Tripura Commerce Minister Tapan Chakraborty told mediapersons here today that the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising the summit to woo the foreign investors to the North East India.
He said investors from the US, UK, Austria, Singapore, UAE, Australia and Switzerland were keen to invest in the region, that has huge untapped potential.
Mr Chakraborty said the CII had invited leading companies and NRIs from these countries to explore opportunities in NE states for future investments in small and medium scale industries based on natural resources.
He further stated that the companies would also explore opportunities in health, food processing, education and tourism sectors in the region adding that 'Clean Energy', a leading Austrian company, was keen to invest in hydro-power sector.
The summit would also provide a platform for the local businessmen to have direct talks with the foreign investors for future projects, Mr Chakraborty underlined.
