K'taka MPs to be called for a meeting to discuss railway recruitment
Dharwad, Jan 7 (UNI) Veteran journalist Patil Puttappa today said that a meeting of members of parliament from Karnataka would be convened here in the first week of February and chalk out further course of action over injustice to Kannadigas in the recruitment to Group D employees in the Southwestern Railway headquartered in Hubli.
Talking to newsmen here, he expressed concern over MPs from the state of not uttering a single word over the injustice meted out to Kannadigas by the Railways. All Kannada speaking people should support the agitation launched by pro-kannada organisations in the state on the issue, he said.
Meanwhile, activists of various organisations continued their protest in Bangalore and the city against alleged discrimination against the locals and Railway authorities 'blatently' favouring candidates from Bihar. Over 500 agitators were arrested today.
Activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike stopped trains at various points in the state for brief periods to mark their protests.
Gajanan mahamandal demonstrated in front SWR zonal office at Hubli protesting against the injustice to Kannadigas.
