Two medical interns held for kidnapping girl
Nagpur, Jan 6 (UNI) Two interns of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) have been arrested here on charges of kidnapping a girl, police said today.
The interns, identified as Rahul Ashok Mahalle (22) and Chetan Purushottam Chavan (23), were arrested after they allegedly tried to take the girl Gauri (name changed) in a hired car to Pachmarhi in the neighbouring statae of Madhya Pradesh (MP), police added.
Rahul knew Gauri from childhood and intended to marry her in Pachmarhi. He hatched a plan to kidnap the girl after coming to know that her family had fixed her marriage with another boy, police mentioned However, Gauri raised an alarm from the moving car and managed to escape after alert onlookers brought the vehicle to a halt.
The police have registered cases against Rahul and Chetan under sections 363 (kidnapping), 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The two have been remanded to judicial custody.
