Retired principal assaults minor girl in Andaman
Port Blair, Jan 6 (UNI) A retired principal of Andaman Islands have been arrested by Andaman and Nicobar police last night for allegedly assaulting a minor girl.
Police today said that the arrest was made after the 11-year-old complaned to her parents against retired Principal Z I Khan, who according to the girl, tried to do many "dirty things".
The girl reported that the accused had tricked her into his house from the neighbourhood, where her mother was working as maid.
Neighbourers and the girl's parents later brought the man out of his house and handed him over to the police.
''We have arrested him and filed a case against him in this regard last night and presently further investigation is on,'' South Andaman Region Deputy Superintendent of Police Kashmir Singh Pabla told UNI. Mr Pabla said that since the offense was a bailable one, the accused had been released later on.
The victim, who had been sent for a medical examination, could not, however, be contacted.
Mr Khan was also the Assistant Director of Education Department in these islands before his retirement, Deputy SP added.
According to neighbours, there were many such allegations against Mr Khan in the past, when he was the Principal in local schools of different far flung islands.
''We have warned Khan's family to keep a watch on him but they did not care. Now, we demand stern action against him,'' said a neighbour, who requested anonymity.
