New Delhi, Jan 6: Relaince ADAG Chairman Anil Ambani today said the route to inorganic growth for the company was limited since the power production units in the country was government controlled.

''Most of the power units are either State of Central government controlled and unless there is some disinvestment from the government side, large scale acquisition is not possible,'' said Mr Ambani. Mr Ambani said the acquistion of Rosa was not exactly a inorganic growth since it only involved buying approvals.

Reliance will set up a 600-mw Rosa thermal power project in Shahajhanpur, Uttar Pradesh. REL has signed the power purchase agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVUNL) and will make electricity available to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL).

Mr Ambani said he hopes in future government will allow greater private sector participation, an aspect which Mr Ambani said may happen with the Dabhol power project.
