Nagaon DC denies emergence of new militant outfit in Assam
Guwahati, Jan 5 (UNI) Reports of the emergence of a new militant outfit named Bharatiya Jaitya Sena were denied by Nagaon Deputy Commissioner J Balaji today after a banner bearing the group's name surfaced in the district.
Talking to UNI over telephone, Mr Balaji said, '' A banner was recovered from near an outpost of Haibargaon police station last night bearing the name of Bharatiya Jatiya Sena. But beyond that, there is no evidence to substantiate the emergence of this new outfit. '' He said a loud sound was heard in the area late last night. The district Superintendent of Police, on visiting the spot, found that the sound was caused by bursting improvised crackers.
It was not a grenade blast, it was just crude crackers, Mr Balaji said.
He said the SP also recovered a banner with the outfit's name from the spot but the administration has no previous records of any such organisation.
'' We are investigating whether such an outfit really exists, '' the DC added.
