Haryana to paint yellow strips on BPL homes

Chandigarh, Jan 5 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to paint a yellow strip reading ''BPL Parivar'' on the main gate of each Below Poverty Line (BPL) household so as to ensure their identity.

Stating this here today, a spokesman for the Rural Development Department said the yellow strip which would be painted at the BPL household would be 12 inches long and 6 inches wide and the words 'BPL Parivar' would be written clearly in Hindi on it.

He said in case it came to notice that any BPL household had removed or repainted the said yellow strip and the words written thereon, the name of such household would be liable to be deleted from the BPL list and such a household would also be liable for the appropriate legal action.

He said instructions in this regard had already been issued to Deputy Commissioners of all the districts for taking immediate necessary action.

This would ensure ''easy identification'' of the BPL families and would facilitate the delivery of various benefits to the BPL household under various schemes of State Government and Central Government, she added.
