Sankararaman murder case posted to Feb 11

Puducherry, Jan 4 (UNI) Puducherry Principal District and Sessions Judge D Krishna Raja today posted the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi were the prime accused, to February 11.

When the case came up for hearing today, 14 out of the 245 accused, including the Acharyas, were absent and separate petitions citing the reason for their absence were filed by their respective counsels.

The proceedings in the case could not be conducted here as the Supreme Court has stayed it on a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the seers on the continued appearance of the Tamil Nadu Special Public Prosecutor in the case here. The SLP was still pending before the apex court.
