Copper wire bar and zinc slab in Non-ferrous metals up

Mumbai, Jan 3 (UNI) Prices of Non-ferrous metals went up today owing to heavy demand from retailers, along with encouraging advice from domestic centres like Kolkata and Delhi, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.

In ferrous-metals, Copper heavy rose by Rs 200 per quintal due to fresh buying support.

However, Copper utensils, Brass utensils, Brass cuttings and Aluminium Utensils remained steady on moderate demand, traders said.

In Non-ferrous metals, Copper wire bar and Zinc slab shot up by Rs 100 per quintal each amid reduced stock supply. However, Lead ingot eased by Rs 100 per quintal on sluggish demand by bulk consumers.

Nickel cathode rose by Rs 30 per kg on better buying support.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 33,200, copper utensils - Rs 31,100, brass utensils - Rs 24,700, brass cuttings - Rs 25,400 and aluminium utensils - Rs 10,400 per kg.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 36,700, aluminium ingots - Rs 12,000, zinc slab - Rs 12,700, lead ingots Rs 11,800, tin slab - Rs 800 and nickel cathode - Rs 1,405 per kg.
