70 per cent of women in Mah are anemic: NCP

Mumbai, Jan 3 (UNI) About 70 per cent of women in Maharashtra are anemic, according to a study conducted by the state unit of NCP.

The campaign 'Rashtravadi anemia abhiyan' was launched in December 2006. In the last one year, haemoglobin check of nearly one lakh women was done. The campaign was conducted through the doctor's cell of NCP under the leadership of party MP Supriya Sule.

The women belonged to the age group of 15-45 years. Those having haemoglobin less than 11 gram were treated accordingly.

The party plans to continue the campaign and has formed eight committees at divisional level to monitor the programme.
