13-year-old girl raped on New Year day

thirteen-year-old
girl
was
allegedly
raped
by
a
class
IV
employee
of
the
Mira
Bhayander
Municipal
Corporation
on
the
new
year's
day
in
Bhayandar
town
in
Thane
district
of
Maharashtra.
Police said today that Krishnaswany Yeshwant Kolan (45), a resident of Ambernath and a class IV employee of the Municipal Corporation working as a '' safai mazdoor'', accosted a thirteen-year-old girl on the road and raped her at around 2000 hrs on January 1. He threatened the girl that he would kill her if she raised an alarm.
But the girl raised an alarm and people living in the surrounding areas assembled and nabbed the worker, who is now in police custody.
The BJP Mahila Morcha Chief Manisha Chowdhary strongly comdemned the incident, saying that women were not at all safe in the state.
It may be recalled that just a couple of days back, a lone female passenger was raped by the conductor and driver of an MSRTC bus in Boisar at the panchayat office. In another incident, a housewife was gang-raped in Kalyan yesterday.
