Tripura's Chinmoy Roy chosen for Pranab Barua Art award

Guwahati, Dec 31 (UNI) Noted artist from Tripura Chinmoy Roy has been chosen for the Pranab Barua Art Award 2007.

A statement issued here today said the award would be formally conferred on Mr Roy here on February 22 next, the birthday of Pranab Barua, a renowned artist in whose memory the award was instituted in 2002 to honour artists of the North-East region.

Born in 1941 in present Bangladesh, Mr Roy has been on the members' list and office bearers of many important art clubs of the country. He has participated in 27 group exhibitions and also conducted five solo exhibitions of his paintings. Mr Roy had also been conferred the Nandalal Basu Cultural award and Dhiren Krishna Devbarman award.
