Seven injured in building collapse in Tripura

Agartala, Dec 31 (UNI) Seven labourers were seriously injured today when a four-storied under-construction building of the Tripura University (Central) collapsed on them.

Police said the injured persons were shifted to the Agartala Government Medical College and Hospital where the condition of three of them was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, the university administration ordered a probe into the accident and initial reports alleged that the sub-standard construction material and poor management were responsible for the accident, university officials said.

Construction and infrastructure development works had been initiated in the university complex soon after announcing it as a central university in July.

However, allegations had arisen about corruption and misutilisation of funds in the university, the officials added.
