Fire in BSNL, Auqaf building, 11 houses gutted

Srinagar, Dec 31 (UNI) Fire broke out in the office of Chief General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), near here today while ten houses including Auqaf building, were damaged in other fire incidents in the Kashmir valley.

Official sources said fire broke out in a room in BSNL office, just on the other side of UNI office, where old files were stored.

However, the employees and other labourers immediately raised an alarm and fire tenders from nearby fire station were immediately rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

Sources said some old files were damaged in the fire.

They said eight houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Village Daril Vilgam in the frontier district of Kupwara.

In another incident, fire broke out at Sekidafar, in the down town city, causing damage to the roof tops of a residential house and local Auqaf building.

Meanwhile four people were injured when a Maruti car and Tata sumo collided at Awantipora on Srinagar-Jammu national highway. The injured were hospitalised, sources added.
