Gulbarga, Dec 29 (UNI) Former Chief Minister B S Yaddiyurappa today urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to make crop insurance payments to farmers whose loans were waived off by his government earlier.

Addressing a press conference at Sedam in this district, he said said that the crop insurance payment was not given due to financial situation when he was Fiance Minister.

"The financial position of the government had now vastly improved and the governent is in a position to disburse the amount now. I would soon write a letter to the Governor in this regard. I would also seek setting up a technical advisory committee to speed up irrigation projects," he said.

Referring to the invitaion extended to former JD(S) rebel leader M P Prakash to join the BJP fold, he said the party would take the opinion of district leaders while admitting leaders of other parties.

Mr Yaddiyurappa predicted that the BJP would win an absolute majority in the coming assembly elections and form the government on its own.
