Voters bycott Bikramganj by-poll on selected booths

Bikramganj, Dec 29 (UNI) Voters at three polling booths in the Bikramganj Lok Sabha constituency, which went for byelection this morning, boycotted the by-poll protesting against the Bihar government's alleged ''failure'' in providing basic amenities to the area.

The byelection was being held following the death of JD(U) MP Ajit Singh, who was killed in a road accident at Siwan this year.

Official sources here said the villagers at the polling booths in Dewaria village and Abha Pokhar under Dehri police station alleged that the state government had failed to fulfil its agenda mentioned in their election manifestos.

They also alleged that the government had not provided basic amenities like supply of drinking water and electricity.

The administration had reached the spots and trying to convince the villagers.

Meanwhile, polling at various other booths was being conducted peacefully.
