Three hardcore criminals killed, 2 abducted rescued

Agra, Dec 29 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police today gunned down three criminals of a notorious Ram Naresh Thakur gang in an encounter at Khedgarh area here and rescued two people abducted, from their captivity.

On a tip-off, police laid a cordon at Behad near Motipur village, where the criminals fired upon the police.

In retaliation, police fired back and killed three of the criminals, however, others managed to escape, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Navin Arora said.

Later, police rescued Chobe Singh and Shivram, who had been kidnapped by the gang on December 23, from Mathura district.

The identity of the slain criminals is yet to be ascertained, whereas hunt is on to nab the absconders.

Earlier, the gang was in news for the abduction of one Shanti Swaroop Gupta of Chatta, in February.

Official sources said, the Ram Naresh Thakur gang is active since 1988 and was involved in criminal activities like, robbery, abduction and murder.
