President offers worship at Tirumala temple

Tirumala, Dec 29 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil along with her husband Dr Devi Singh Shekawat, her son and daughter offered worship at the Lord Venkateswara temple here today.

The President was also presented a ''sesha vastrams'' at the sanctum sanctorum by the chief priest Ramanadikshatulu.

She was also presented prasadam and a portrait of the Lord Balaji by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Chairman B Karunakara Reddy.

The priests and pundits extended her the temple honours amid the chanting of vedic hymns in the temple.

Earlier, the President was given a traditional reception by the priests.

The President spent more than half-an-hour in the temple.

Later, she returned to Renigunta airport by road and left for Hyderabad by special Indian Airforce flight.
