Government to promote research in Museology

Bhubaneswar, Dec 29 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen today said his government intended on promoting and patronising research activities on various aspects to help people understand the rich culture and traditions of the state.

Inaugurating the platinium jubilee function of the state museum here, the Chief Minister said that to facilitate research activities, a library of palm leaf manuscript with storage facilities had been designed.

A manuscript gallery and a library had been renovated and modernised with assistance from the XIIth Finance Commsssion. The gallery had more than 37,000 rare palm leaf manuscripts on various subjects on indology, he said.

Mr Patnaik said ten more galleries would be renovated and modernised in a phased manner.

He said the government had also beautified the museum garden and complex to attract more tourists.
