Farmers to hold demo in TN on Dec 31

Rameswaram, Dec 29 (UNI) As many as 20,000 farmers will participate in a demonstration on December 31 to demand the government write off farm loans as well as the interest.

Organised by the All India Kisan Sangh (AIKS), the demonstration is expected to draw participants from Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Orissa and Haryana.

After a public meeting, the farmers will throw loan documents into the sea at Agnitheertham.

According to Mr Govind Joshi Patel, one of the organisers, the farmers want the government to make nationalised banks waive off farm loans.
