Congress to hold "Mahapanchayat" in J'khand in February

Ranchi, Dec 29 (UNI) The Congress party will hold ''Mahapanchayat'' to organise voters belonging to the backward classes.

Former union minister and president of party's backward class cell K C Lenka said, while addressing a press conference here, that block level committtees would be formed by the first week of February next.

''The Mahapanchayat would be organised by the end of February to reunite the voters,'' Mr Lenka said.

Referring to reservation facility being provided to other backward classes he said that Union government had already provided 27 per cent reservation to the OBCs but in Jharkhand they were given 14 per cent reservation facility.

He said that state government would be requested to maintain the Centre's 27 per cent reservation status to the OBCs.
