Bangaon, Dec 29 (UNI) AITC General Secretary and local MLA Jyotipriya Mallick demanded removal of certain BSF jawans for allegedly killing local people in the name of being smugglers.

''The BSF personel of 126 Battalion deployed at Angrail had killed innocent people under false pretext of being smugglers,'' he alleged, added the security men regularly opened fire on people and had killed at least six people in this border area.

The BSF shot dead a Class IX student from close range on December 28, when he was returning home from his school sports, he alleged.

Mr Mallick said he had written to the Union Home Secretary to remove the battalion as some of its members arrogantly opening fire, killing innocent people.

Meanwhile, local police station had registered a murder case against the concerned BSF constable, who had not been arrested so far.

On the other hand, IG BSF South Bengal S N Tiwari had refuted the charges levelled against the constable, saying that the young man was seen moving with 'smugglers and became victim of circumstances'.

Local people at Angrail demonstrated in front of the BSF outpost here last night. However, they left after intervention by the SDPO Bangaon.

The district administration have taken up the issue with the BSF and held a couple of meetings with them and the police officials of the district here on December 20 and 27 to prevent such firing by the the BSF guards.
