Hundreds of people, mostly youths, today took to streets at Nowhatta in the down town, protesting the assassination of Ms Bhutto. Raising ''pro-Pakistan and freedom'' slogans, the demonstrators blocked main road and pelted stones on passing vehicles and police personnel. However, when they tried to move towards the main chowk, police resorted to baton charge which had no affect. Later, police burst teargass shells to disperse the demonstrators, who were regrouping and pelting stones on police.
Situation in other parts of the city was peaceful, official sources said.
