Poachers nabbed in Chhattisgarh
Pathalgaon, Chhattisgarh, Dec 28 (UNI) Six villagers were arrested today for using electrocution to poach elephants and other wild animals in Raigarh district's Dharamjaigarh Forest Division.
''The gang poached a tusker last week in Chhal Forest Circle.
Post mortem confirmed electrocution and monitoring was stepped up.
When the accused ventured forth today they were apprehended along with wire by forest officials,'' Divisional Forest Officer Hemant Pandey told UNI.
A case was registered under the Protection of Wildlife Act against Chandrakant Patel, Ganpat Patel, Amar Chand, Sukhlal, Lakhan Rathiya and Anuj Kumar.
''The officials concerned will be rewarded,'' Mr Pandey added.
